Every year, May is set aside to celebrate Preservation Month. Beginning as Preservation Week (1973), the celebration was extended to the entire month in 2005 in order to showcase the diverse and unique heritage of our country’s cities, states and historic sites.

Come down to historic Main Street on May 18th and visit the SCCHS Archives where we will be displaying information, documents and images on St. Charles County’s historic sites many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.Take a look at the documentation we hold on the City of St. Charles historic districts, city and county maps - some of which you can purchase, the designation of historic place names, files on specific residences, and information on how you can become involved in local preservation efforts.

And since preservation is more than just saving old buildings, we’ll have a hands-on, how-to preserve your family documents and/or images.

                * If you know the reference to this title, stop by the Archives on May 18th, let me know your answer and if correct, there will be a reward!
