Our 60th Anniversary - Diamond Jubilee - Early Settlers' Homes Tour I was held on Saturday, September 17th , from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  It included the Daniel Boone Hays Home, the Nathan Boone Home, the Squire Boone Home and the Boone Village Homes.  Daniel Boone Hays was the grandson of Daniel Boone and the son of William and Susannah (Boone) Hays.  The Daniel Boone Hays home had never before been open to the public.

The tour of the three Boone homes, as well as all the Boone Village structures, was found to be interesting and informative by those taking part in the first Early Settlers’ Homes Tour.  Particularly in the case of the Daniel Boone Hays home, the interior of which is currently undergoing architectural analysis, guests were treated to a pre-conservation look at the inside of this grand old structure.  The building is not yet open to the public, although the exterior has been brought back to its original 1825 era appearance.  Forty-nine 49 guests attended and the St. Charles County Historical Society raised $980 toward its Diamond Jubilee goal of $60,000.
